Vilamendhoo Island Hotel

Vilamendhoo Island Hotel, Maldives, Review.

Vilamendhoo Island Hotel

Vilamendhoo Island Resort, is framed by a stunningly beautiful lagoon and the island itself is encircled by seemingly endless stretches of white, sandy beach. The resort is just 5 acres in area which is small enough to give you that feeling of seclusion and exclusivity whilst still offering privacy and the space to relax and unwind.

Vilamendhoo is just a 25 minute transfer by seaplane from Male International Airport. Many guests find that the seaplane transfer is in itself a part of the holiday because it gives you time to admire the views and appreciate the island and its surroundings from the sky.

The resort offers 184 luxurious, modern yet comfortable rooms with the choice of garden rooms, Jacuzzi beach villas, water villas and beach villas. The resort has two restaurants that offer a range of menus and different foods which are sure to tantalise the tastebuds of even the most discerning traveller.

Officially rated a three star but this resort is three star by Maldives standards so you can rest assured the staff do everything in their power to ensure your stay is absolutely perfect and the facilities are in reality second to none. Vilamendhoo is therefore quite a bargain and certainly represents excellent value for money in comparison to some of the other resorts in the Maldives.

It is little wonder that one prominent travel writer who visited Vilamendhoo said that the resort sets a new standard for luxury and service, leaving others around the world trailing it its wake!

Vilamendhoo Island Hotel

A holiday one can only dream of…At home was snow and ice, we arrived in the Maldives after the flight with Thompson to a temperature of about 30’C, turquoise sea .

.. just great! On arrival at Villamendhoo we were greeted with a fresh coconut and then led to our Bungalow. First, we had requested a bungalow in the south and that we got (in the north of the island it is very windy and it has a lot of shade). Each bungalow has its own deck chairs, so there is no need to fight with the Germans for them !

!. A wonderful view of the sea … and then came the snorkeling. Beautiful, colourful fish (sharks, rays, etc)! Simply wonderful. The island is really nice with lots of palms and other trees making it seem like a tropical island.

The food was very tasty, lots of choice at the buffet (even for vegetarians). We had booked half board, which was totally adequate. On the last day we took a 3-hour trip to a local island and were able to still take some souvenirs home with us (we should have done the trip sooner, to get us some soft drinks – as all we had at the Deluxe room was a kettle to make tea and then chill it in the refrigerator! – if you do not like mineral water, one has little other choice than to buy drinks for about 2 € buy at the hotel bar). Fresh pressed juice for 7 dollars was expensive but so fresh it was worth it as a treat!

All in all, we had a wonderful holiday! The hotel should have been rated a four star in our eyes.
