Kuredu Island Resort Hotel

Welcome to paradise! The Kuredu Island Resort is actually three resorts offering a choice of fine accommodation. The island is located on the northern reef of the Lhaviyani atoll which is renowned for the natural beauty and plethora of marine life. Kuredu is about 80 miles from Male International Airport but that being said, it is only a 35 minute transfer by seaplane which is always a great start to a holiday, allowing you to appreciate The Maldives from the air.

Kuredu Island Resort Hotel

Officially four star rated, there are nine different types of accommodation to choose from but all offer unrivalled luxury and comfort whilst maintaining a true Maldivian charm that you want from your hotel. Our choice is the water bungalows at Kuredu where you have your own steps down into the lagoon right from your room meaning you are sleeping just feet from the beautiful turquoise water that is thriving with fish and beautiful marine sights – what a way to wake up in the morning!

One of the unique things about Kuredu is that it has The Maldives first golf course here offering you the chance to play 6-holes of the relaxing sport surrounded by breathtaking views across the ocean and palm trees swaying in the warm breeze.

Kuredu Island Resort Hotel

As newlyweds, we were looking for somewhere exotic, romantic and relaxing. We settled on the Kuredu Resort and opted for 14 nights in the water villa – wow! Best decision of our lives! It was so great, I recommend getting a Balinese massage in the spa as this is sure to start your holiday off the right way! Can’t really think of anything negative to say about our time here – it really was that good!

My only criticism of the island is that it is quite family orientated – my wife and I were expecting a real couples/romantic getaway because there are plenty of romance options on their website such as champagne breakfasts but there are quite a few family groups that seem to come here making it a little irritating at times when you are trying to relax on the beach but having said that the surroundings and the accommodation are superb and the staff at Kuredu did their best to make our stay enjoyable.

There are three resorts to choose from within Kuredu and from what I can tell, the O resort is by far the best. We stayed in an O Water Bungalow and glad we did, was refurbished quite recently I think so everything looks clean, modern and practically new. I understand from talking with some of the other guests that this isn’t the case with all of the rooms on the island.

  1. Yvonne Gothard says:

AVOID like the plague, it’s dirty, rat infested and the restaurant staff need a big shake up. Sat for three evening meals without a drink and you can’t go to the bar and get your own. Unless they do this island up and sort out their staffing issues it’s not worth the money you pay.

  2. Went here 2011 (Jan) – very clean, good staff (we had 2 children so child friendly). Pool does get quite busy and as with other resorts some families do not keep their children in tow! Food good and accommodation adequate. We have been to 4 other islands too and this one is good value for money – if you want very quiet with top quality food you really do need to dig deeper in your wallet :0)
