Hudhuranfushi Resort Review

The Hudhuranfushi Island Resort is a four star beach resort on a Maldives island (Lhohifushi) situated in The North Male atoll. The island is a combination of golden sands, greenery and views to the vast glistening ocean.
The official name of the hotel is The Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi.

All of the rooms at the resort are bungalows with double beds with access and views out onto the beautiful beach. All standard rooms have the basic facilities as standard which you would expect from a luxury resort including satellite televisions, air conditioning and a mini bar. The rooms also boast an open air shower. You can upgrade your bungalow to a bigger, more luxurious ocean villa which gives you access to the Sunset Restaurant, a king size bed and a jetty which takes you straight into the ocean.

The main restaurant, The Banyan serves all meals in a buffet style, catering for all tastes. Fine dining is available the Sunset restaurant for guests staying in the ocean villas. Snacks are made available at various set times throughout the day at the Hiyala Bar, there is also a coffee shop and 3 other bars for drinks, one of which is a swim up pool bar.

The all inclusive package includes all of your meals in the main restaurant, snacks in the main bar and selected drinks, activities, entertainment and other facilities unless otherwise stated.

The resort is perfect for the water lover and the surfer, getting there even involves travelling across the sea on a speedboat! “The reception at the airport and boat transfers went extremely fast. The room was OK but the best thing was the snorkelling. If you like to snorkel Biyadhoo is a dream! The water is very rich in fish, and it’s easy to reach the reef.”

After snorkelling sometimes four hours a day we got really hungry so enjoyed the food. There are buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner. At the salad bar you can choose between 7-8 different salads. The buffet of main course consists of 7 hot dishes, and there’s a lot of variety, it consists of rice, vegetables, potatoes, pasta, meat and fish. For dessert, there is cream, cakes, pastries and various fruits.”

“If you want a fab holiday then this is the resort for you. The food was delicious and i put on half a stone in a week how did that happen? The snorkeling on the house reef was an amazing day out, the staff where friendly and helpful and pleasant to be around. The bar was a good social gathering point, there are no televisions in the rooms or bar but who wants to watch tv on a holiday like this. The weather was hot and sunny as my sunburn told me after 2 days. Everything about this hotel was amazing I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the resort and would recommend it to anyone who is travelling to the Maldives.”

The Meeru Island resort is the luxury four star resort on the Maldives island of Meerufenfushi, North Male Atoll.

All accommodation on the Meeru Island are villas, either in the garden, on the beach front or in the ocean. All the villas come with a king size bed, private patio, air conditioning, mini bar, cable TV and safes as standard along with the use of sun loungers at the pool area and on the beach and fresh beach towels. There are multiple upgrades you can make from the standard garden room, beach villas are the same as the garden room but on the beach with a refreshing back to nature open air bathroom and a four poster bed which adds to the romance. Jacuzzi beach villas are slightly bigger with a private outdoor area with a tropical garden and a private jacuzzi. Water Villas are located on the edge of the beach and meet the water. The ultimate upgrade is the Jacuzzi Water Villas which have all the previously mentioned features in a larger room which is positioned over the water and accessed via your own private jetty, this is perfect for a secluded romantic break.

There are two romantic honeymoon suites available which are located over the water in the lagoon. You get to the suite by boat and there is everything a newly wedded couple could want including all the privacy in the world. There is a private pool, room service and a kitchenette, you really would not need to leave your suite!

The resort is full board which includes meals, afternoon tea and snacks and a variety of drinks. In total there are five restaurants, all open air. There are two main restaurants, both of which serve a variety of buffet foods to suit all tastes. An adults only restaurant is available for guests staying at the northern part of the island in the water villas. The Hot Rock Restaurant has to be tried at least once during your stay! You prepare your own food at your table and hot volcanic stones are brought to you so you can see your food being cooked on the stones!

For snacks and other drinks there is a selection of bars around the resort meaning one is always in easy reach and a coffee shop which does room service. All in all food is rated very highly and above average of other four star resorts we offer.

As it is an island resort a lot of the activities revolve around water, there is a water sports centre, diving centre and fitness centre. You can also get involved in the sports on the beach side such as football, cricket and tennis. For beginners who want to pick up a new hobby or try a new activity there is a range of short 30 minute lessons in snorkelling, golf and wind surfing. One sunset excursion is also included in your package which is a trip off the island on a boat at sunset an ideal time to enjoy the beautiful natural scenery and take some photographs. There are countless other trips available on the weekly excursion programme which includes sightseeing, trips to other islands and a range of fishing trips. If you prefer to keep your feet relaxed on dry ground you can visit the spa or browse the gift shops and jewellery boutiques for genuine Moldavian artwork and jewellery.

Each week there is a range of daily entertainment to keep you occupied when you are not out on a sunset excursion or fishing these include dancing shows, discos, movies, tournaments, crab races, nature trails and garden tours.

Although you will probably spend most of your time on the beach and in the sea the Meeru resort does have two clear freshwater pools. One is an adults only infinity pool with a pool bar and views along the beach and the other is for children only.

A luxurious relaxing holiday must feature at least one trip to the spa. The Meeru Island Resort Spa is set in the peaceful tropical gardens, the tranquillity and beauty of which will set off your relaxation. Traditionally the time to visit the Maldives has been in the dry season, which is December to March. Major hotels are most busy at this time and especially busy during the Christmas season. Some visitors maintain that Christmas is the best time to visit the Maldives. This is also the most expensive time to visit, with prices almost doubling. At this time there is less chance of rainfall and there are opportunities to take part in land sports like volleyball, sauna and table tennis and of course there is time to relax on the beach. Even at the busiest times beaches to not tend to get overcrowded since most resorts are exclusive that overcrowding is not an issue.

Divers however should remember that water clarity is best in April and November time during the transition months and diving visibility is at the highest at this time. In the wet season there is also said to be more chance of seeing plankton, dolphins and mantas. Water sport activities are plentiful in the Maldives with sports like sailing, diving and snorkelling, jet skiing, deep sea fishing, parasailing and wind surfing all available to take part in. There tend to be fewer tourists in the wet season also and prices are lower on island.
